Museum of Science

Monday, March 19, 2007

Today we went to the Museum of Science to check out the Dawin exhibit. Unfortunately they didn't allow cameras due to the sensitivity to light of a number of the items being displayed. We saw Darwin's notebooks, magnifying glass, personal study and the ships log of the Beagle. All very cool. They also had a number of live animals on display, including a pair of Galapagos turtles and a rather large iguana. Cassie was quite impressed with the latter, however as a seasoned reptile afficioando I was a little disapointed in it being a common green iguana, not a marine version that Darwin would have encountered.

Also its always nice to see the exhibit on Mathematics done by the Eames office. The design still stands out in an age of colorful, computer based exhibits.

I feel small.

Snowboarding at Sunday River

Monday, March 05, 2007

We went up to Sunday River for Cassie's birthday. They had just received a foot of snow, and it kept on snowing most of the time we were there. The good news is that snowboarding is like riding a bike, or electric shock enforced behavior: you don't forget it. The bad news is that the muscles involved never get used for anything else. Never the less, we toughed it out through two solid days getting in a lot of good runs. And the heated pool / hot tub condo at the Jordan Grand wasn't so bad either.
